The challenge

Weir Minerals operated across several West African jurisdictions with no consolidated view of the environmental, health and safety obligations that applied in each. Compliance was being managed country by country, which made regional assurance and reporting difficult and left gaps nobody owned.

What we did

We built a single regional legal compliance framework register covering every applicable requirement by jurisdiction, mapped each obligation to the evidence that demonstrates compliance and to a named owner, then ran a gap assessment against current practice. Findings were prioritised by exposure and delivered with a practical action plan. We followed the register with training for operational staff so the framework would be maintained locally rather than centrally.

The outcome

The client moved from fragmented country level compliance tracking to a single regional register with clear ownership. Compliance gaps were identified and prioritised, and site teams were trained to keep the register current.
